In Vedic Hindu religion, the Yantras have been given very important position due to their usefulness and agility to yield the desired results. The Yantras attract the energy from the cosmos and, that too, in such a form that fulfills the specific desire. Each Yantra is different in its form and shape with the other. Sri Yantra is considered to be one of the most powerful and effective Yantras as it is believed that it contains the strength of all the gods. It is a very proficient Yantra to increase concentration, because it sharpens the intellect and purifies it too.

Sri Yantra has been used to enhance the power of concentration in meditation for a long time. According to the modern Vastu, the temples, homes, towns etc based on the mathematical formula of Shree Yantra are full of positive energy and those who live at the places like these have intelligence, concentration, peace, compassion and love flowing through their hearts.

Shree Yantra is the abode of primordial goddess Sri Lalitmahatripur Sundari. Its design and shape had been discussed in the mystical text of Saundarya Lahiri written by Adi Shankaracharya. Mother Lakshmi is considered the first among all the goddesses and Sri Lalitmahatripur Sundari as the best form of goddess Laxmi.

Shri Yantra is a kind of graph that depicts the sound waves of OM. It is said when OM is pronounced in the proper way, the design of Sri Yantra is carved corresponding to that sound in etheric plane. Shri Yantra is greatly revered and worshipped throughout India. It signifies entire universe that is also referred to as Shri Chakra in Tantric treaties.

According to the astrological texts, Shri Yantra is worshipped to pacify planet Sun. The word Shri Yantra is the combination of two words - Shri and Yantra. The Sanskrit word “Shree” or “Sri” signifies Lakshmi or wealth. Therefore, it is believed that Shree Yantra is very beneficial if one wants to gain wealth.

Sanskrit Pundits tell that the best and most beautiful thing of the world is called Lalita. The literary meaning of the word Lalita is the one who plays. The creation of entire universe, to look after it and its destruction is called the divine play of goddess. Tripura means three worlds, three powers, three facets of Brahman - existence, consciousness and bliss. Hence, it means the cosmic power that existed even before Maha-Kali, Maha-Laxmi and Maha-Saraswati.

The primordial goddess Sri Lalitmahatripur Sundari is known as Shri Vidya among 10 Maha Vidyas. Her mantra that consists of 16 characters is also known as Sri Vidya. Its Yantra is known as Shri Yantra. No one could ever understand the mystical goddess and her divine play in its entirety. According to the scriptures, Shree Yantra gives both worldly pleasures and liberation. The recitation of Shri Sukta in front of Shri Yantra gives immense intellectual powers, wealth, health and the spiritual progress.
