Order NowAccording to Indian religious texts, it is said that Mahamantra Mahamrityunjaya Japa Puja is dedicated to Lord Shiva. This mantra is mentioned in the Rigveda. The mantra literally means worshipping the three-eyed Lord Shiva, who nurtures all living beings. Thus, any person who is afraid of negative events, loses out of fear, should do Mahamrityunjaya Puja. Also, it is also called Rudra Mantra, which refers to the fiery side of Lord Shiva.
Meaning of Mahamrityunjaya Mantra
ॐ त्र्यम्बकं यजामहे सुगन्धिं पुष्टिवर्धनम् । उर्वारुकमिव बन्धनान् मृत्योर्मुक्षीय
मामृतात् ॥
oṃ tryambakaṃ yajāmahe sugandhiṃ puṣṭivardhanam । urvārukamiva bandhanān mṛtyormukṣīya
māmṛtāt ॥
त्र्यंबक्कम/tryambakaṃ means the three eyes of Lord Shiva. Triya means three and Ambakam means eyes. These three eyes are the three main deities- Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva. Three 'Amba' means mother or Shakti who are Saraswati, Lakshmi and Gauri. Thus in this word त्र्यंबक्कम/tryambakaṃ, we are referring to the manifestation of God as Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva.
यजामहि/yajāmahe means, "We sing your praises".
सुगंधिम/sugandhiṃ means the fragrance of the knowledge, presence, and power of God that always surrounds us. Certainly, fragrance refers to the pleasure we get from knowing, seeing or feeling God's moral act.
पुष्टिवर्धनम/puṣṭivardhanam means that the Lord is the nurturer of this world, and in this way, he is the father of all human beings. Nutrition is also an intrinsic sense of all knowledge, and thus it is also the originator of the Sun and Brahma.
उर्वारुकमिव/ urvārukamiva means huge or big and powerful. आरूकाम / Aarukam means disease. Thus उर्वारुकमिव/ urvārukamiva means fatal and extreme diseases. Diseases are also of three types and caused by the influence of three gunas, which are ignorance, untruth and weakness.
The meaning of बन्दनायन/bandhanān is tied. This word is thus read with उर्वारुकमिव/ urvārukamiva, it means that the person is surrounded by fatal and acute diseases.
मृत्योर्मुक्षीय /mṛtyormukṣīya means liberating us from death for salvation.
मामृतात /māmṛtāt means ‘Please offer me some Nectar of Immortality or Amrit so that I can get out of the cycle of rebirth along with death from deadly diseases.
If someone in your house has been ill for a long time and even after undergoing several treatments, the patient is not able to recover, then in such a situation, chanting the Mahamrityunjaya Mantra and performing the Puja should be done.
