She lit lamps in each and every corner of the room. Besides, she kept reciting stories to her husband to keep him awake. Very soon, the Angel or god of death, Yama arrived in his house in the form of a Serpent. All of a sudden his eyes started to dazzle because of all the bright lamps and radiant jewellery. Since the jewellery and the coins kept there was in the form of a heap, he couldn't climb it and make it to their bedroom. Thus, he sat at the entrance and started listening to the stories which were recited by the wife to her husband. Whole night passed away and when dawn broke, he went away without taking Hima’s son’s soul. Hence, his wife remained successful in saving his life and ever since then followers of Hinduism has been celebrating Dhanteras.
