Cricket started in the final years of the 17th century and is the second most popular sport after football across the world. The test matches which were conducted for five days was the way cricket was played until the first ODI or the one-day international matches started in the late 70s.
If cricket was started by the British, it was the Australians who started the one-day internationals. Even after the T-20 storm taking over; ODIs still rule the cricket world for the last 5 decades.
ICC or the International Cricket Council is the governing body of the global cricket for more than a century. Started in the year 1909 as the Imperial Cricket Council, it has changed to its current form in 1989. It is the final authority on all decisions in the cricketing world and mostly in the momentous ICC world cup. The ICC body consisting of 104 members will be responsible for conducting ICC World Cup 2019 in England and Wales.
All the 10 teams will play one match against each other. That comes to a total of 45 matches. The first four with the maximum points will be selected for the knockout stage or the quarterfinals.
The points are calculated as per the wins and losses of each match and also the net run rate or the NRR will also be tabled for qualifying the last four. The first semi-final will be played between Qualifier 1 and Qualifier 4 on 9th July. The second semi-final will be played between Qualifier 2 and Qualifier 3 on 11th July. And the grand finale will be played between the winners of the two semi finals on 14th July at Lord's London, the home of cricket.

The predictions could vary about who could win the world cup or what are the chances for India to win the world cup. There are many methods now being adopted by the cricket enthusiasts for these predictions. Since artificial intelligence is a scientific way of calculating numbers, it is now used to predict the outcome of matches and thus even the winners of the ICC world cup. They take into account the various numbers and statistics of the previous matches including the scores, run rates, batting & bowling averages, individual cricketers performances, and many more to arrive at a statistical point of prediction for the ICC world cup 2019.
Out of the 10 nations and 45 matches, individual records of previous matches and current form of players are listed below:
England, being the host have the advantage of home grounds and crowd support. But there is also tremendous pressure on winning the world cup as being the host. The team has the best batting line up and acclaimed all-rounders. But their concern could be of the less charged frontline bowling line up. Having not even won even one world cup so far despite being the nation who introduced the game of cricket to the world is their big worry and disadvantage. Maybe this year being the host could get their long wait come to an end.
The defending champions and five-time world cup winners so far are not in good shape this time. The three consecutive wins of the world cups in 1999, 2003 and 2007 made them unbeatable in cricket for more than a decade. But the recent banning of their key players Steve Smith and David Warner caused a shadow on their winning chances. Even though the ban period concludes one month before the world cup starts, it is unlikely they will play in the world cup.
The 20 years of international cricket ban did not stop South Africa to produce great cricketers since they started to play from 1991. But the world cup has been always eluded to them so far. AB De Villiers will be missed because of his retirement. Yet Proteas could spring in surprises in this world cup.
The strong and fierce bowling line up of Pakistan could spring surprises and they could be the best on certain days against any team in the world.
The recent non-inclusion of MS Dhoni in the ODI squad could be a crucial factor for good or bad. The world cup could be brought to India with the performance of Virat Kohli, the firebrand batsman and captain. The middle order batting line-up is the cause of concern. If the bowlers and the middle order do their job perfectly India stands to win the world cup.
The other 5 teams could bring in their best performances and could win the world cup also. But their chances as per their form and record are less than 10 % and hence only with improved skills and spirit they have a chance of winning the world cup.
Cricket is a game. It is beyond everything. Just enjoying the game for its glory and skill will be the best way to enjoy this world cup 2019. But as an Indian everyone would wish and pray for a third time win for India in the world cup 2019.
