Kartika is the month of awakening your soul immediately with meditation and celebration. This month of fasting and vows directs the devotees toward spirituality as well as festive importance.
Kartika is the eighth month amongst the twelve months from Hindu calendar. This is the month of worshipping Lord Vishnu. Month of Kartika also brings many important festivals like Diwali. It means that Kartika is the month of spiritual awakening with festival and worship. In this month, in spite of cold season, people fetch blessings by taking shower in pond, lake or river, to name a few. Kartika teaches us how to maintain our daily routine as per season. Additionally, it teaches us to spend our free time in worship and meditation.
Kartika is also important because no other month in Hindu calendar has this number of big and pious festivals. Krishna Paksha of Kartika month begins just after the day of Sharad Poornima. It is believed that winter season begins with krishna paksha. The series of festivals begin with the starting of the month Kartika. The fourth day of Krishna Paksha is Karwa Chauth. Women wait for this festival throughout the year for the goodwill and long life of their husbands. After that, festivals like Kalashtami, Govats Dwadashi, Dhanteras, Roop Chaudas, Diwali are celebrated. Krishna Paksha ends with Diwali. Govardhan Puja, Bhai Dooj, Amla Navami, Deva Prabodhini Ekadashi, Vaikunth Chaturdashi and the Kartika Maha Purnima are celebrated in Shukla Paksha.
As per the Holy Scriptures of Hindus, Kartika is the month that has been dedicated to Vishnu Pujan. Tulsi Vivah also commences during this month. This month gives a beautiful message of spirituality and worship with numerous vows, fasts and festivals. On the other hand, this festival directs toward festival love. As per ancient scriptures, this month can fulfill all your desires by worshipping Lord Vishnu. After giving shower to God with Panchamrit, flowers like Lotus, Malti and Agastya are used for further process of worshipping. Don’t forget to offer bunch of Tulsi leaves in Puja. Perform Puja and meditation with perfumes and other fragrance spreading things and accomplish the process of Aarti and Prasad. Health remains consistently well throughout the year by taking shower at some holy place in the month of Kartika.
