We all know that from the time a baby is born, it is dependent on the mother's milk for a certain period of time. But as he/she grows up, apart from his/her mother’s milk, solid foods are also required for his/her overall physical as well as mental development. So when grains or solid food is fed to the child for the first time, the particular day is very considered special. It is on this day that the Rice Eating Ceremony is conducted during a particular Annaprashan Muhurat. Along with it, Hawan or Yagna is also conducted.
Annaprashan Sanskar holds special significance in Hinduism and performed during the early days of a child’s childhood. Annaprashan Sanskar is not only astrologically but also scientifically significant. According to science, when the child is still in the developing phase in his/her mother’s womb, he/she consumes some of the filthy elements present in the food consumed by the mother. The process of eliminating all those dirty and negative elements from the food grains and providing pure food to the baby is called Annaprashan Sanskar.
At the same time, according to astrology, a soul attains the life of a human being after travelling through the 84 Yonis. That is why everything done for the first time in this human life is very special. This is why the followers of Hinduism perform the Annaprashan Ceremony during a special Muhurat. Annaprashan Sanskar is performed 6-7 months after the birth of the child to eradicate food-related doshas. It is believed that through this ritual, the strength, intelligence, health and might of the child are enhanced.
While calculating the Annaprashan Muhurat 2022, keep in mind the following things -
The date of Annaprashan or Rice Eating Ceremony chose should fall in the even month for any boy and odd for the girl.
Performing the Annaprashan Ceremony of a girl in the seventh, ninth or eleventh month of her birth is considered auspicious. On the other hand, the Annaprashan Ceremony of a boy is considered auspicious when done in the sixth, eighth and tenth month of his birth.
Dwitiya, Tritiya, Chaturthi, Panchami, Saptami, Dashami, Ekadashi, Dwadashi, Trayodashi and Purnima Tithi are auspicious for Rice Eating Ceremony.
Talking about the Nakshatras, the Annaprashan Sanskar rites should be performed in Ashwini, Rohini, Ardra, Punarvasu, Pushya, Uttara Phalguni, Hasta, Chitra, Swati, Anuradha, Uttarshada, Shravan, Dhanishta, Shatabhisha, Uttara Bhadrapada and Revathi Nakshatras. However, just keep in mind that no sinful planets are exerting their influence on these constellations.
Another special thing to remember is that Annaprashan Muhurat should never be finalised in the nakshatra in which that child is born.
Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday are considered auspicious for finalising the Annaprashan Muhurat in 2022.
While calculating Annaprashan Muhurat 2022, keep in mind that the Moon should not be present in the fourth and eighth house from the child's birth sign.

Observing the importance of Annaprashan Sanskar, auspicious muhurat and timings should be analysed and calculated by a qualified and experienced astrologer.
First of all, thoroughly clean the place where the Annaprashan Ceremony is being performed.

After worshipping the deities, the parents must chant the mantra given below, and the first morsel (kheer) should be offered to the child. -
शिवौ ते स्तां व्रीहियवावबलासावदोमधौ । एतौ यक्ष्मं वि वाधेते एतौ मुञ्चतो अंहसः॥
śivau te stāṃ vrīhiyavāvabalāsāvadomadhau । etau yakṣmaṃ vi vādhete etau muñcato aṃhasaḥ॥
That means, “O Child! May the Barley and Rice be strong and healthy for you. Because both of these things eliminate the deadly disease Tuberculous, are offered to the Gods and Goddesses and offer riddance from the sins. "
After eating the first morsel, the remaining members of the family should feed the child turn wise and offer gifts, money and blessings to the child.
During the Annaprashan Sanskar Ceremony, clay, gold jewellery, pens, books and food items are kept in front of the child. It is said that the future of the child can be easily predicted after he or she lays his/her hands on any of these items.
For example, if the child puts his/her hand on gold ornaments, he/she becomes rich in future. If the child lays his/her hands on the pen, it is estimated that s/he will be intelligent, and if the book, then he/she remains ahead in acquiring knowledge.
Do not overcrowd the place while performing Annaprashan Sanskar, because the child can get upset by seeing so many people together and may feel suffocated. Apart from this, special attention must be paid to cleanliness and hygiene while feeding the child. For the child not to suffer from any kind of infection, every person feeding him/her should wash their hands properly before feeding. During the Annaprashan Sanskar Ceremony, instead of heavy clothes, wear soft and loose clothes keeping in mind the convenience of the child.
Many times during Annaprashan Sanskar, it has been observed that some parents overfeed their child a little more food in order to complete the ritual, due to which the child is unable to properly digest the food, as a result of which s/he starts facing physical problems.
