In all Pongal is a festival of harvesting that is purely dedicated to the Lord Sun. It is celebrated exactly after 21 days of winter solstice.

The journey of Sun towards the north direction is also known as the Uttarayana. It is a common belief that this astrological phenomenon brings auspicious timing and happiness which should be celebrated with immense faith and dedication.

The sweet dish prepared of rice and many other things is the main Prasad that is offered to Lord Sun.

One of the best things about the festival Pongal is that the first grains of the season got after the harvest are used to prepare the Prasad for the Lord Sun. This shows the purity of people’s heart and also express that they genuinely want to thank the Lord Sun for his kindness.
