AstroSage AI is the No. 1 astrology app on Google Play Store in India and ranks among the Top 75 free apps across all categories. Not top 75 in astrology. Top 75 in everything.
For context, this ranking sits alongside apps backed by hundreds of crores in marketing spend. AstroSage got here bootstrapped, with no comparable ad budget, no paid install campaigns at scale. Just users finding the app, using it, and telling others. That's what genuine product-market fit actually looks like, not the kind described in a pitch deck, but the kind reflected in a Play Store ranking
We Were Doing This Before "AI" Was a Buzzword
Our AI story didn't begin in 2024. It began in 2001, when we shipped Mobile Kundli on Palm handheld devices. Smartphones didn't exist yet. We weren't thinking about venture capital or product-market fit decks. We were just building.
By 2004, AstroSage.com had moved astrology to the cloud. By 2011, the AstroSage Kundli mobile app was live. It became the first Indian astrology app to cross 10 million downloads. Then 50 million. Now 80 million.
Then in 2018, years before ChatGPT made AI a dinner table topic, we launched Bhrigoo.ai. It was a voice-based AI assistant that answered astrological queries in Hindi and English. Real users, real queries, real answers. While most Indian companies were still treating AI as something to write conference papers about, we were running it in production.
90% Margins vs. 50% Margins: Why the Gap Matters
The standard astrology platform is a marketplace. It connects users with human astrologers, takes a commission, and runs at 45 to 55% gross margins. The biggest players in this space have raised tens of millions in venture funding to scale what is, at its core, a labour-intensive operation.
We went a different route. We built AI astrologers in-house. The cost of delivering an AI consultation is a fraction of routing a user to a human astrologer. That's where the 90% margins come from. This isn't a services company with a technology wrapper. The economics look much closer to a SaaS business.
And our AI astrologers aren't just cheaper to deliver. Users rate them higher: 4.6 out of 5, compared to 4.3 for human astrologers. They're available at 3am. They speak every major Indian language, including Bhojpuri and Braj-bhasha. We were also the first in India to bring Character AI-style avatar personas to users. Each AI astrologer has a distinct name, specialization, and personality.

Voice AI: Not a Demo
In October 2025, we launched what we believe is the world's first AI Astrologer on Phone Call. Users call a number, speak in their own language, and have a real-time conversation with an AI astrologer. Not a prototype demo shown at a conference. A live, revenue-generating product used by millions.
A woman in rural Bihar can call and speak in Bhojpuri. A Gujarati-speaking trader can get guidance in his own language, on the phone, in under a minute. The global tech industry spent most of 2025 talking about Voice AI as the next frontier. We spent 2025 running it at scale.
What We're Building Next
The next generation is autonomous AI astrologers. Their own phone numbers, email addresses, and social media accounts on Instagram and Facebook. They make and receive calls, send messages, and interact with users across platforms without any humans in the loop.
This is the same direction that made OpenClaw (formerly Clawdbot, now at 145,000+ GitHub stars) the most talked-about AI project globally right now: agents that don't just respond to prompts but take initiative and act. The difference is we're building this on top of a proven business with millions of paying users, not a research hypothesis.

This week, with the India AI Impact Summit 2026 pulling global attention toward India's AI capabilities, we decided to put our story where it belongs. Not in a startup newsletter. Not in a founder tweet thread. On the front pages.
AstroSage AI ran full-page advertisements in four of India's leading national and business dailies simultaneously: Economic Times, Mint, Indian Express, and Financial Express. If the world was going to be talking about Indian AI this week, we wanted AstroSage AI in that conversation with something more than a blog post.

Astrology isn't a borrowed use case. It's woven into daily life for hundreds of millions of Indians. Marriage decisions. Business timings. Naming a child. AstroSage has held over 80% market share in Kundli creation, horoscope matching, and astrology software for nearly two decades. Astrologers on competing platforms use our tools to cast birth charts.
Our network includes over 700,000 registered astrologers. With 1.5 million daily active users, we have more daily engagement than many well-funded consumer tech companies in India. Built from India, for India.
What Comes Next
AI revenue is on track to become the majority contributor to our overall business within months. We're also expanding internationally, with planned launches in France, Germany, Japan, and Brazil, bringing Vedic astrology to new audiences through AI.
The summit conversations matter. Policy frameworks and research investments are real and necessary. But the truest measure of any country's AI capability is simpler: can its companies build things that millions of people use and pay for, every single day?
