Known as an astronomical phenomenon, Solar Eclipse occurs when the planet Moon moves in its orbital axis while passing between the Earth and the Sun, hereby casting a shadow on the former and blocking the sunlight. In this case, the planet Moon covers the Earth’s surface either fully or partially when all the planets are in alignment, and is visible in selected regions only. In Vedic Astrology, this event is regarded to be big, and Sutak Kaal is observed where the Eclipse is visible. Natives are refrained to initiate any auspicious project, task or ritual during this period, since the outcome won’t be as desired. Three types of Solar Eclipse occurs in this world, which is mentioned below. This will help you understand the phenomenon easily and in detail.

Partial Solar Eclipse

Partial Solar Eclipse occurs when the planet Moon partially covers the Sun while in between the Earth and the Sun. During the Partial Solar Eclipse, the Moon, Sun and Earth aren’t in a straight alignment, and the Moon covers the Sun with the outer part of its penumbra, i.e. outer shadow. Partial Solar Eclipse occurs in three stages:

  • Partial Solar Eclipse begins with the Moon placing itself between the Sun and Earth.
  • After its placement, the Moon covers the maximum area of the Sun’s disk and reaches its highest magnitude.
  • After its peak point, the Partial Solar Eclipse ends with the Moon changing its placement and moving forward.

In 2021, the Sun will be visible partially eclipsed during both the occurrences, i.e. on 10 June & 4 December, in selected regions.

Annular Solar Eclipse

An Annular Solar Eclipse creates the “ring of fire”, also called as “annulus” when passing through the Sun and Earth and blocking the Sun right in the centre. In 2021, Annular Solar Eclipse is occurring on 10 June. there are five distinctive stages of its occurrence:

  • With the phenomenon occurring, the very first step is Partial Solar Eclipse.
  • After this, the Moon covers the Sun’s central disk, hereby creating the ring of fire.
  • After reaching its highest magnitude, the annulus ends and the Moon moves away from its placement, which marks an end to the eclipse.

Total Solar Eclipse

Total Solar Eclipse takes place when the planet Moon fully covers the Earth while coming in between the Earth and the Sun, and completely blocks the sunlight. This astronomical event is spectacular and emits darkness where it is visible. In the year 2021, the second Solar Eclipse occuring on 4 December is a Total Solar Eclipse.
